Arizona SonShine

A LITTLE HISTORY

Several years ago, a vision was conceived by a group of health care providers, out of which the SonShine Non-profit organization arose, to provide a wide menu of health care services, at one location, on an annual basis to those residents of Yavapai County who might not otherwise receive services. There is no means test, and anyone who needs services, and is in line, receives services – until our volunteers are full for the event. Over the past four years, at the annual June events, we – in partnership with the Town of Prescott Valley, the Yavapai County Health Department, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Loma Linda University (California), and other corporate sponsors – have served nearly 4,000 citizens of Yavapai County, with services in excess of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) in value. As a result of the success of the Arizona SonShine model, in addition to SonShine/Prescott, we have been requested to expand our reach in Arizona. Thus, clinics have been held in Mesa, Payson and Tucson.

All donated funds are used to serve citizens. Administrative costs are paid from other sources. For example, it costs approximately $16 to provide a pair of glasses; $15 for the materials for a physician visit; $25 for a Hep-C test; $30 on average for the materials for a follow-up lifestyle class; $50 for materials for a dental procedure or denture adjustment. For $150 per plate (or $300 for a complete set) we can provide a guest with one-day dentures.
